The Morzsa Records Collective is the tangled Budapest briar of baroque not-folk pop fed on the twisted roots of old weird americana; it is a dialectic of peace and violence spit through a microphone and frayed on a gauntlet of strings and driving percussion. Justin Spike, Endre Barz, Zoltan Gluck, Jérôme Li-Thiao-Té, Emily Hertz and Freddie Schulze reconcile their radically diverse influences in an unsteady alliance of guitars, banjo, violin, cello, accordion, vocal harmonies …and eccentric rythmes. Sometimes through American Folkways, sometimes through avant-garde American indie, sometimes through off-beat Britpop, but mostly through a developing repertoire of unique aural solutions cobbled together from over a year of stylistic conflict and co-habitation, the Morzsa Collective finds their way from the visceral depths of Orphean tragedy to the misty coastal banks of longing affection and back again. They perform mostly originals informed by years of performance and writing experience as well as a handful of significant covers to round out their sets.
